Saunas for beautiful hair

Did you know that your body is Know how to make the best out of a sauna session for your hair!perfectly capable of caring for your hair on its own? If you are leading an overall healthy lifestyle with clean eating, regular exercise and proper hydration, you could probably ditch a few of your hair care products. However, there’s one surprising thing you should definitely incorporate into your hair care regimen if you want a strong and beautiful mane on top of your head: regular sauna sessions.

The magic is simple: the steam of the cabin opens up clogged pores and loosens up the sebum (oil) on your scalp. This deep cleanses and hydrates your scalp, which in turn can properly hydrate your hair from the roots to the ends. As an added bonus, the heat also stimulates hair growth. A sauna session lasting even only a few minutes will get rid of most of the oily and dirty leftovers of beauty products and will activate the sebaceous glands on your scalp, releasing a set of compounds that moisturize and condition your hair. The result is perfectly balanced hair that feels great for several days.

Wet or dry?

There is a hair-related difference between wet and dry heat. If your cabin or your sauna has an infrared heater, then the heat is spread through the air through that heating element and it results in  dry heat. Wet heat on the other hand comes from steam produced by the water you pour onto the sauna stones Wet heat can’t really damage your hair. Dry heat however can even cause long-term damages to your hair if you’re not careful enough..

How to make the best out of a session?

We have collected some tips for the best result as promised:

  • Try and incorporate mild and natural hair care products into your routine. Your scalp and your hair might be a bit sensitive after a sauna session, so don’t “uspet” them with harsh chemicals.
  • Dampen your hair before going into the sauna. This will protect your locks from dehydration.
  • If you’ve just washed your hair, apply a nourishing hair mask before your sauna session! The heat will further enhance the benefits of a store-bought product, but you can also try DIY hair masks.

It is not wise of course to expect miracles from a single sauna session but regular visits will undoubtedly help you grow healthy, strong and beautiful hair. Wouldn’t it be nice to have your own custom made cabin installed in your home?
